This is part 3 of my journey to repair and upgrade the circulation pump in my Whirpool dishwasher. You do not need to go back and watch Parts 1 & 2, as I attempt to recap everything I learned. The parts I use for this modification: Replacement Pump - If you are modifying your original pump, you can skip this one. But if you DO need a new one to start with, search for W10510667. It seems to be the most common replacement number, but I list more possible model numbers to search in the video. #605-RS bearings - Stainless or ceramic are best. RS stands for rubber shield, and I think they are a better choice than 605-ZZ or 2Z (metal shielded) bearings. Just search for "605 bearing" on eBay, Amazon, McMaster, or your supplier of choice. 1/2" or 12mm heat shrink tubing - Do not get glue-lined tubing, as it will be too thick. 605 bearings are a couple of mm larger than the tubing, so you'll just cut a piece about 7mm long and stretch it on for a nice fit. Make it flush on one side so it wraps around the other as it shrinks. If you use tubing larger than the bearing, it will work, but it will want to slip off as it shrinks. In that case, cut the tubing a couple mm wider on both sides, shrink it, then trim one side flush to the bearing. Then press the side that is wrapped over into the housing first. If the tubing is cut flush to the bearing on the side you press in, it will just push the tubing off. 5mm or #10 stainless washers - Ideally, you want them to be the same size as the inner race of the bearing, but you'll have to take what you can get. Any material that will not rust will probably work, such as brass or plastic. You can stack them up as necessary to achieve a nice clearance, but I just used two.
