SHEFFIELD | Kapital Bar and Cambridge Street Collective Food Hall Tour Located in Sheffield's city centre, Kapital Bar and Cambridge Street Collective are two major new additions to the city's hospitality scene, both part of the multi-million-pound Heart of the City development. Cambridge Street Collective opened in May 2024 and is billed as Europe's largest purpose-built food hall. Kapital Bar which opened in June 2025, is Sheffield's largest modern European-style drinks hall. While both venues are centered around food and drink, they each have a distinct concept and atmosphere. They stand as a testament to Sheffield's growing reputation as a destination for foodies and drink enthusiasts. Cambridge Street Collective is a sprawling, industrial-style venue spanning three levels. It brings together over 20 independent food vendors offering a diverse range of international cuisines, from authentic Vietnamese and West African dishes to Japanese sushi and Detroit-style pizza. Beyond the food stalls, the collective features four vibrant bars, a dedicated children's play area, and an array of entertainment options, including AR darts, a cookery school, and a community kitchen. The space is designed to be a bustling social hub, with a packed events program of live music, monthly markets, and cultural events. Its focus on variety and community has earned it recognition, including the "Best Food Hall Award 2024" at the British Street Food Awards. Kapital, in contrast, offers a more focused, Euro-inspired experience. It is the brainchild of the team behind Sheffield's Two Thirds Drinks Co., and its core feature is the four towering stainless-steel tanks that hold unpasteurized Czech lager. This drink, a first for Sheffield, is delivered weekly from the brewery in South Bohemia. The venue also boasts a total of 34 taps, pouring a curated selection of drinks from across Europe, including German and Belgian classics. Complementing the extensive drinks menu is a pan-European food offering, with dishes like Austrian schnitzel and German bratwurst, served in a lively atmosphere enhanced by live big band performances and DJs. Kapital offers a unique and authentic taste of European drinks hall culture, all under one roof.
