Triumph Thunderbird Sport review by NOT The all year Motorcyclist

It was my intention with this video to pay tribute to a fellow YouTuber who has been very supportive to many other channels including my own. However it's difficult enough to talk and ride at the same time, let alone try to pay homage to a YouTube legend. I apologise now for my poor attempt, I had intended for this to be so much better. That aside, I hope you enjoy this review of possibly the best bike Triumph ever made, at least until the new Rocket 3 came to be. Amongst the last of the Hinckley built motorcycles, the Thunderbird Sport was a testament to Triumphs engineering and is without doubt satisfyingly over engineered. Several different variations of this iteration of the Thunderbird were made from the nineties into the naughties. These included the "Adventurer" the "Legend" along with the "Thunderbird" in standard form. The Sport saw several upgrades on the standard models, twin front disc brakes, upgraded adjustable suspension and shock, a six speed gearbox as well as improved performance. The early Sport models also featured Triumph TOR (Triumph off road) exhausts configured in a three into two upswept design. Later models having an exhaust either side and the standard bikes having Pea shooter style exhausts. It's a bike which went under most people's radars initially conceived to recapture the American market, where I believe it sold quite well. The standard Thunderbirds came in more traditional livery, some models having a King Queen seat, others a Cafe racer style seat cowl. The Sport came in bright colours, yellow, red, orange and white depending on the model year. It's a fairly heavy bike, being of strong steel construction. One drawback was the use of Aluminium/Magnesium alloy which is very prone to pitting if left wet or exposed to winter road grit. Hopefully this video has captured the enthralling exhaust sound of this bike, I clipped a Rode wireless mic, fitted with a dead cat to the seat strap. Unfortunately it also picked up a good bit of wind noise, which is fairly unavoidable at higher speeds on open roads. I hope you enjoyed this review and seeing and hearing this iconic bike.
