Someone you might not even know exists. One of the creators of Rockstar games. His name, is Danhausen, sorry Dan Houser. I’m sure somebody will get that joke BUT anyway. Rockstar games was founded in December of 1998. Founded by 5 people, Jamie King, Terry Donovan, Gary Foreman, Sam Houser and his brother Dan. And while these undoubtedly all very important individuals; I just want to focus on Dan for today. And why is that? It’s because I genuinely believe he is one of the most influential people of the last 10-15 years and most people don’t even know he exists. And if you guys know anything about Rockstar games, I think they prefer it that way. Remember the five founders I mentioned? 3 out of 5 of them don’t have wiki pages, and they founded rockstar games. Sam’s wiki page? Look how short that is. Dan’s wiki page? Look how short that is. Guys Rockstar hasn’t been to E3 in 14 years. Who is their community manager? Alright these guys like to keep a low profile. Dan, keeps a low profile. Now, if we’re eating meat and potatoes, here’s the meat right here. Besides being one of the founders of Rockstar games, why is Dan Houser so important? Well… Allow me to fill up your plate. You see, he was the writer for Grand Theft Auto: London 1969, that’s a DLC for the very first grand theft auto game, He wrote Grand Theft Auto 2, Grand Theft Auto 3, Smugglers Run 2, He wrote Grand Theft Auto Vice City, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories, GTA Vice City Stories, He wrote Bully, He wrote Grand Theft Auto 4, Midnight Club Los Angeles, GTA 4: The Lost and the Damned, China Town Wars, The Ballad of Gay Tony, He wrote Red Dead Redemption, Undead Nightmare , Max Payne 3, Dan Houser wrote Grand Theft Auto 5, And Red Dead Redemption 2 And while just about each Rockstar game has 1-3 writers on it, many of which include Rupert Humphries and Michael Unsworth (list some other writers on screen) it is safe to assume Dan Houser has written your favorite Rockstar game. He is also a producer on several of those games. He is an animal. I would kill to watch one of those wired videos where Dan or another lead writer breaks down how they write a scene for Red Dead or GTA. So. What’s he up to now? Well Dan Houser LEFT Rockstar games the company he helped found, back in March 2020 after an extended leave of absence starting in 2019. Why he left, I don’t know I’m not gonna speculate on it – like I said, these guys keep a low profile, you probably won’t find an answer. But even though he’s left Rockstar games and it’s publisher Take-Two interactive behind, he’s certainly not done. Its potato time.. You see, and this is the most important part, the reason I made this video is because Dan, has started his own video game company called Absurd Ventures in Games, And I wanted you to know that. Doesn’t roll off the tongue though. So in the future, when you read an article about a new video game, watch a trailer, or hear that name somewhere, I want you to remember it and pay attention to what they do next. And while you’re here, let me tell you everything we currently know about Absurd Ventures LLC (drum roll) yup that’s right you guessed it, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BUT... that doesn’t matter. The focal point of this company, is who’s behind it. In an era of half finished video games, poor launches, and broken products, Rockstar manages to put out games, who even on their worst days, blow half the current market out of water. So when one of the top guys, one of the five creators behind this company and one of the producers and writers behind every video game you see here before you starts a new project... Wouldn't you like to know what he does next?
