Amongst the tourist attractions here is Bridge House, a 17th century house on a bridge over the river that's now a National Trust protected building. Shopping in Ambleside is great with all kinds of gift shops, shops that sell walking and hiking gear, as well as cafes, pubs and bars, restaurants and hotels and guesthouses if you fancy a stay in the Lake District.
