ALICE THE TOREADOR is a black-and-white silent short film created and directed by Walt Disney. It features live action segments paired with animated sequences. It was released on January 15, 1925. Alice and Julius play bullfighters, selecting a peaceful old steer as their "bull". However, when Terrible Tom swaps the steer with a legitimate bull, Alice is forced to run for her life. It stars Virginia Davis as Alice. The animation is by Ub Iwerks. How Disney routinely exerted influence on the US copyright law: https://shorturl.at/nsERZ The Alice Comedies series was created by Walt Disney, Ub Iwerks, and their staff in the 1920s, in which a live action little girl named Alice has adventures in an animated landscape. The shorts were the first work by what ultimately became The Walt Disney Company. Unfortunately, not all of these shorts survived. This film is in the public domain meaning it has been identified as being free of known restrictions under copyright law, including all related and neighboring rights. You can copy, modify, distribute and perform the work, even for commercial purposes, all without asking permission. Corporations, including The Walt Disney Company, lobbied Congress to get U.S. copyright laws extended by 20 years, twice! Because of that, it allows published works to be under copyright for almost a century and corporations to squeeze every last ounce of profit from them even long after the profitability has past. It keeps people from enjoying art, which is the purpose of art. #animationshorts #cartoons #Disney #publicdomainfilms #publicdomainmovies
