The popular Gershwin musical "Oh Kay!" opened on Broadway in New York City in 1926. This recording was made that same year and represents how the song was originally performed in the show. I have never heard another version of it done as slowly as this one. While it is interesting that it is how it was done, I do prefer a more up tempo version of the song. The musical opened on Broadway in 1926, starring Gertrude Lawrence and Victor Moore, and ran for 256 performances. The musical then opened in London's West End in 1927, starring Lawrence and John Kirby, where it ran for 213 performances. Not a very clean copy of this side of the record at the beginning. After the first 1/3 of the song things clear up pretty well. DAHR Link: https://adp.library.ucsb.edu/index.ph...
