In this Challenging Wednesday episode, a randomly selected image brought me to a waterfall scene with very soft, diffuse light and almost no natural contrast. Instead of relying on strong colors or dramatic edits, the focus of this process is on shaping light and guiding attention. Using brushes and different masking techniques in Lightroom Classic, I gradually create depth, separate elements in the frame, and help the viewer’s eye move through the image. The final edit stays relatively subtle in color, with lower saturation and a slightly warmer shift in the vegetation — all based on the intention behind the scene rather than a fixed recipe. This series is about decision-making in real time: analyzing an image, defining a vision, and making conscious choices during the editing process. 00:00 Intro 00:14 Selecting the image 00:50 Formulating the vision 02:22 Basic Adjustments 04:49 Masking 14:45 Working the colors 20:50 Before vs. after Also, check out my website or my Instagram account if you’d like to see more of my work or get in touch: https://philipp-raczek.de/ / philipp.raczek
