BILSTEIN experience in The Green Hell! A couple of weeks ago, together with automotive blogger Frederic and race driver Jürgen Freiburg of Team Fast Racing, we took part at the “Destination Nürburgring” track-day: Track-walk, Nordschleife-coaching, visit to the Black-Falcon showroom. One highlight after the other! Before hitting the track we made good use of our time exploring the perhaps most beautiful piece of asphalt! During the track-walk Jürgen explained what happens in the final seconds before the drivers hit the racetrack and which tasks and equipment the teams deal with in the pits. From the paddock you have a perfect view on to the grand prix track. A very special track section for Jürgen: “The grand prix track, with its long run-off areas and gravel traps, is the perfect entry for motorsports enthusiasts. The Nordschleife is considerably more demanding, there is no room for error!” Frederic’s personal highlight on this day was the exclusive Nordschleife coaching: what has to be considered in the individual track sections? How to deal with the other drivers on the Nordschleife? Additionally, Jürgen explained how important the car’s setting is: “Tires, brakes, and suspension all are under extreme stress. When the bump- and rebound-settings don’t fit the track, the tires lose traction jumping into the air and fail in force transmission. If this happens during braking, for instance, the ABS won’t work properly and you end up losing speed.” Lean back and enjoy the full BILSTEIN experience!
