How to dive Blue Heron Bridge | 1 minute orientation for Scuba Divers | Phil Foster Park -Down to 60

Blue Heron Bridge / Phil Foster Park is in SouthEast Florida, on the intracoastal waterway near West Palm Beach. It's open year-round & considered one of the best shore dives for all levels of divers. From little sea horses to octopus, piles of tropical fish, cleaner shrimp - and even some larger passer-bys... the marine life here is beyond belief! There's a snorkel park, little shipwrecks, and even a series of artificial reefs that range from stone structures, hammerhead statues, and even some shopping carts that clearly had annoying wheels. YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST dive during slack high tide. Not low tide, medium tide, HIGH TIDE ONLY! Otherwise the viz disappears and the current rips, we've tried it and it's not worth it. Plus the water gets pretty nasty with all the runoff flowing by. HINT: Search Tides for "Port of Palm Beach" for an accurate time. OR, better yet, just go here: https://www.usharbors.com/harbor/flor... You’ll want to be geared up at least 30 to 60 minutes before High Tide, and at the water's edge ready to start your dive. Also, don’t forget your floating dive flag - it’s required. Depths get up to 20 feet, and you can dive from the beach to either side and even under the bridges, but stay in the dive area and out of the marked channel reserved for boats - your life literally depends on it! Also, there are endless picture guides online and for sale at local dive shops in the area that map it all out. Parking can be tricky, so arrive early, especially on weekends, but there’s tons to see, and night diving is available with a free permit issued by the local dive shops - give them a call for details, gear, or even a personal dive guide.
