Arkansas faces some of the most significant health disparities in the nation, driven by a complex set of social, economic, community, and life course conditions. To understand and address drivers of disparities in health in the state, the Arkansas Health Survey (AHS), a population-based, multimode survey, was recently administered to adults in all 75 counties. Led by a collaborative team of fifteen scientists from six public institutions, the AHS aims to provide the most comprehensive state-level data on health outcomes and social determinants of health in Arkansas. This presentation will offer an overview of the survey’s design, key preliminary findings, and the development of tools, such as a publicly accessible dashboard, aimed at supporting policymakers and community stakeholders in addressing health inequities. Looking ahead, Dr. Niño will discuss the next phase of data collection for Year 1 and preview plans for Year 2, which include expanding data collection efforts to households, integrating new metrics, and fostering deeper community engagement. Through ongoing refinement and collaboration, the AHS seeks to serve as a transformative resource that generates actionable insights, informs policy decisions, and promotes health equity across Arkansas.
