Building the Daye Penny-Chanter

If you ever wondered why an uilleann pipe costs so much, consider all the work in building my "shortcut" version. Here are 1-second views of almost every step in building the commercial version of the David Daye uilleann pipe "Penny-Chanter" in the shop. It's the melody pipe of an uilleann pipe set, using the stepped brass tube bore construction I invented in 1997. 2 styles are shown, both using the same brass tube inner bore. The original construction was designed for easy home building using white plumbing pipe for the exterior, and a more traditional looking black exterior which requires turning on the shop lathe. A longer video showing construction of an uilleann half set is in production. There are around 200 steps to build the chanter, another hundred to build 1 chromatic key and prepare for shipping.
