I am going to show you two ways to organize your iPhone apps. Then, I’ll show you how to create folders on iPhone, enabling you to organize your apps into folders to make them easier to find on your iPhone / iPad home screen pages using Apple VoiceOver. I demonstrate step-by-step how to add folders to iPhone by Showing and audio describing the techniques used to create folders on iPhone / iPad as a legally blind or visually impaired VoiceOver user. Similarly, I’ll share lots of iPhone tips as we review how to group apps, how to make a new folder using two apps, how to reposition an app or folder, how to rename a folder on the Apple Device home Screen, how to add an app to an existing folder containing apps, and how to delete a folder on the Apple device home screen. Lastly, we’ll explore the ‘edit’, ‘drag’, and ‘drop’ modes, alongside the ‘2-finger scrub’, ‘swipe up’, ’swipe down’, ‘single-finger double tap’, and the ‘single-finger double tap and hold’ VO gestures. Apps can be organized by dragging them around when the Home Screen is in its edit mode, where the apps are wiggling and jiggling, by low vision, blind, and visually impaired users. Although it’s tricky to drag apps between Home Screens and very easy to drop apps in the wrong place and lose them, it’s often not recommended for VO users with visual impairments, But, this method is sometimes necessary. Being totally blind myself, I’ve had to refer to using this method more than once. It takes time, practice, and patience, but it is achievable by totally blind people, especially when the preferred VoiceOver swipe gestures are not available for organizing and moving apps, bookmarks, and saved webpages, or creating folders. I started to create folders on iPhone to declutter my home screen and to organize apps into folders on iPhone, by keeping similar apps together. Over time, my iPhone home screen became full of random apps, bookmarks, and saved webpages that I use daily and others I’ll use occasionally. Eventually, I found myself scrolling through an abundance of multiple pages of downloaded apps. If you’re someone like me who prefers organization, this could be a time-consuming task for you as it was for me. It became frustrating to remember where a particular app was located and on which home screen; So, I organized my phone. I was able to easily organize iPhone apps with folders. As I would make folders and group apps, surprisingly my amount of home screen pages were reduced. Organizing iPhone Home Screen apps can make it much easier to locate apps, bookmarks, and saved webpages. You could consider to group apps with similar functions on individual Home screen pages in alphabetical order, which was my first approach. But, as my apps continued to grow, I decided to create folders in which to group similar apps and organize folders alphabetically. For example, you may wish to group together social networking apps, GPS apps, news apps, TV streaming apps, and so on, like I did. Then I went a step further and decided to manually organize iPhone apps alphabetically in each folder. this has made it so much easier.
