More than a third of University of Manchester graduates stay in Greater Manchester where they support our public services, drive innovation, and strengthen our communities. Their achievements are a powerful reminder of our enduring mission to make a difference locally and globally. Among those paving the way is Holly Egan, a recent medicine graduate now working as a foundation doctor at Wythenshawe Hospital and contributing to ground-breaking research in ovarian cancer detection. Edoardo Altamura studied physics and stayed on to complete a PhD. He is now a quantum software engineer helping position Manchester as a global hub for emerging technologies. Victoria Healy, an educational psychology and PGCE graduate and now the Assistant Head of Department at Loreto Sixth Form College, is transforming the lives of young people through inclusive education, inspired by her own journey as a single mother and mature student. Lola Albarn, studied English literature and creative writing followed by a PGCE in primary education. She is now a tutor with The Tutor Trust, supporting young people across Greater Manchester, helping them regain confidence in their learning whilst inspiring others to pursue a career in education. Guy Tennant is a politics, philosophy and economics graduate. He now leads policy on safer, stronger communities at GMCA, helping tackle crime, reduce harm, and build resilient, inclusive communities across Greater Manchester through impactful public service. Their stories reflect the talent, commitment and purpose that define our University of Manchester community. As we come together next week to celebrate our newest graduates, we also look forward to the many ways they will shape a better future. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co....
