This video ends when I break Benfica’s Champions League curse… After winning the club’s second European Cup in a row in 1962, then manager Béla Guttmann went to the Benfica board asking for a pay rise. The club refused and Guttmann was so furious that he walked out with the legend claiming that he uttered “Not in a hundred years from now will Benfica ever be European champion.” Since then, Benfica have since played in five European Cup finals, losing them all. Today, I will break that curse by bringing a Champions League back to Benfica.
