Almost two weeks ago, I attended Megacon here in Orlando. It was beautiful and magical (and my first convention). At a certain table, there was a certain band, and a certain ukulele player may have fangirled out a little. After getting a picture with the band, I left with my friends because one of them wanted something signed by Wil Wheaton. The line was super long, and I suddenly had an idea. There was this song I'd wanted to play on ukulele since I got it, a song that had been one of my favorites by a band since I'd first heard them, and that I hadn't been able to find chords for online anywhere. So after we finished being awkward at Wil Wheaton, I wandered back to the Ghost of the Robot/James Marsters table line. There was a girl and her friend at the front, but since she was there to see Spi-, er, James, I got Sullivan's attention and said, "Can I - if I want to just talk to you, can I come up now?" Although he probably thought I was crazy, he said yes, so I went up to the table and held out a handful of toy dinosaurs. "I will trade you dinosaurs for the chords to 'This Town'." And that's how I ended up standing at a table at Megacon with Charlie and Sullivan - Sullivan playing it while Charlie named the chords and my friend Cody wrote them down. He sent them to me later, and for the couple I didn't already know on ukulele I learned them, and now here we are. I finally got to cover this song, one of my favorite songs of all the songs, and I will probably be playing it nonstop for the next forever. Thank you Charlie and Sullivan for letting me fangirl over you guys and your music. I am sorry I don't know your bass players name, but thank you for the puzzled look you gave us during the chord-exchange. Thank you James for not calling me out for creeping on your son (I mean what no that's not what I meant), and I'd say thanks to Jordan but I think he fell asleep somewhere.
