BLACKEYED PEAS in the INSTANT POT | The easiest blackeyed peas ever

Ingredients: 1/4 cup of chopped green peppers 1/4 cup of chopped onions 1/4 cup of celery 1 tablespoon of onion powder (to taste) 1 tablespoon of garlic powder (to taste) 1 tablespoon of seasoning salt (to taste) 1 tablespoon of black pepper (to taste) 3 cups of chicken broth (or vegetable broth) 3 cups of water (or more) Smoked turkey (optional) 1 bag of uncooked blacked eyes (unsealed) Olive Oil Ghee Butter (optional) Instructions: 1. Take bag of blacked eyes peas and rinse (you are not pre-soaking these peas) 2. Chop onions, green peppers and celery 3. Turn instant pot on to sauté function and add olive oil. 4. Add celery, onion and green peppers and sauté until soft (should take no more than 3 min). Season with the onion/garlic/seasonings while sautéing. 5. Add rinsed black eyed peas to the softened celery, onion and green peppers and stir up. 6. Make sure to scrape up the bottom of the pan and add the scrapings from the bottom to the peas (that’s the flavor)!!!! 7. Add a spoonful of butter (I use ghee instead of regular butter). It “thickens” the sauce. 8. Add 3 cups of chicken broth (or vegetable broth) 9. Add 3 cups of water 10. Then add smoked turkey (optional) 11. Stir all together then close the seal. Set to manual 25 min. 12. Allow to natural release for 10 min (this releases the pressure of the peas). 13. I then took the top off checked the consistency 14. Sautéd function for 10 min. Added 3 more cups of water then manual for 10 min; natural release for 12 min 14. Fluff and stir the peas and serve! Recipe special notes: 1. I use ghee butter as opposed to regular butter. 2. You do not need to use chicken broth you can use vegetable broth (if making vegetarian). 3. You do not need to use smoked turkey it’s optional. 4.
