Cities in video games have come a long way over the years, and whether it be Novigrad in the Witcher 3 or Los Santos in Grand Theft Auto 5, some of them have been able to create a realistic vibe that makes the city feel alive. Of course, they aren’t and when examined even a tiny bit, the real world logic of them falls apart. However, while cities in games are reminiscent of cities in real life, they aren’t meant to be designed to be cities in real life—they are meant to be designed as video game cities and therefore every feature of them somehow ties to the player experience.
