Sakhuluntu Cultural Group engages children physically and academically so that they may grow up to be independent thinkers who believe there is more to life than where they are in the present. Founded and managed by Vuyo Booi, this group consists of children from three to 18 years old, who meet and do homework, play drama games and create traditional dance routines and plays. Vuyo Booi, a 40-year-old man runs the group in his house in Extension 9, Grahamstown. Whilst growing up in a township where unemployment, teenage pregnancy as well as drug and alcohol abuse are prominent issues, he was introduced to drama, poetry, dance and art towards the end of his high school career. This led to him joining a group called ‘Iyakha and the Three Brothers’. Production by Aphile-Aphile Sololo with Kellan Botha and Nontobeko Gumede School of Journalism and Media Studies, Rhodes University
