You play as Clyde Radcliffe, whose children have been kidnapped by demons and hidden across three dangerous islands. To rescue them, you must survive a series of intricate “torture screens,” trampoline bonus stages, boss encounters, and hazardous island-hopping sections. Rather than focusing on traditional platforming, Creatures 2 emphasises puzzle-solving and experimentation. Each torture chamber is filled with elaborate mechanisms that must be activated in the correct order to progress. The game is famous for its detailed cartoon-style graphics, featuring advanced multicolour sprites and smooth animation that pushed the C64 hardware to its limits. Steve Rowlands’ energetic soundtrack and sound effects further enhance the experience.
