With all the horrifying, nauseating, apocalyptic terrors the Trump administration and U.S. federal government are unleashing on their own citizens, including public executions, we Americans often forget that actions and developments that occur in America reverberate and radiate far beyond our shores. To that end, earlier today we touched base with our friends Justin Greaves and Belinda Kordic from self-described "macabre rock" band Crippled Black Phoenix to discuss the political, cultural and moral rot that is corroding the U.S., the U.K. and even Sweden thanks in part, although not exclusively, to a sick, elderly, malignant narcissist. "It's 'Handmaid's' fucking 'Tale,' isn't it?" an understandably upset Kordic remarks as we begin discussing the loaded subject –which, by the way, is no longer about political disagreements between left and right but rather a moral battle between right and wrong and the soul and potentially existence of the U.S. Crippled Black Phoenix, purveyors of what they call "macabre rock," hold a special place in The Bad Penny's proverbial heart, granting us rare interviews and cutting the ribbon for our Pet Sounds series that began in October 2024. A year and change later, the Season of Mist collective are focused on Sceaduhelm, their 13th album. It finds the historically private band deciding to finally let out their pent-up frustrations and wear their heart on their sleeve. But while we did discuss the seven-piece band's new effort, due April 17, we're saving those insights into and details about Sceaduhelm for publish closer to CBP's album due date. First thing first, we need to save a few countries ... if not continents ... if not the future of the human race.
