A new packaging line has now been installed as part of an optimization process. Before that, the #mussels were packed into the cans by hand. A MULTIPOND MP-16-1000-400-J #multihead_weigher is used at #CERMAR. The system, which is made of stainless steel and equipped with other hygienic components, was adapted by the MP specialists for the processing of sticky, moist mussels. In addition, a special traveling transfer system is used, which has a pressure unit, is driven by servo motors and fills two filling stations synchronously. After being weighed, the mussels are carefully pressed into the small oval cans with a stamp and compressed so that the closing seams are then free of products. With the new line, up to 100 cans per minute can be filled with mussels, with the giveaway only amounting to +/- one gram. The personnel costs and working hours of the employees could also be reduced to 1/3 through the use of the scale.
