K-Line trains is has been out of business for almost 15 years now, but they left behind a legacy of durable, good running trains O Gauge 3 rail. One of the most popular of these is the 3000 Series of 4-6-2 and 4-6-4 steam locomotives that were based on original Marx Trains tooling. These steamers featured smoke, air whistles, smooth-running can motors, electronic 3-position reverse boards, and, usually, diecast shells. Like most K-Line products, the 3000 series steamers were great competition for Lionel's starter set engines. The steamers were a staple in K-Line’s mid and upper-range starter sets throughout the 1990’s and were also available for separate sale through the 2000s. The models are smooth runners, good pullers, and are geared to run at less-than-ludicrous speeds. They are close to 1/64 scale, so they look best when paired with K-Line’s Marx-derived rolling stock or Lionel’s Scout and O27 rolling stock. But, these neat steamers do have a design flaw that often puts them on the sidelines. The side rod assembly on these models have too much lateral play in them. Under certain conditions, the rods can bind as they rotate through their cycle. When this binding occurs, the pressure builds up until the weakest point in the assembly gives way. That weakest point is right here - the piece commonly called the eccentric crank. *As an Amazon Associate and a member of other affiliate networks, We may receive commissions on qualifying sales generated from the links on this channel.** Visit Our Virtual Storefront! https://walmrt.us/3sIUMQu Related Links: Robert Grossman Parts: https://www.trainpartsformarx.com/ K-Line Part 3000-03-04: https://www.trainz.com/products/k-lin...
