It’s about 3 weeks at Alila Manggis Bali; the 4-star, World of Hyatt Hotel in rural East Bali. Subscribe for more TRAVELiving adventures, and let's explore the world together! Alila Manggis is a four-star hotel tucked away in the tropical paradise of East Bali—and after spending three unforgettable weeks there, we can honestly say it was one of the most peaceful and memorable experiences we’ve ever had. In this video, we take you on a tour of this stunning resort and share what it’s really like to stay here. From waking up to the gentle rhythm of ocean waves to floating in a warm, serene pool as bats skim the water at sunset, Alila Manggis was the perfect mix of relaxation, adventure, and cultural richness. This was our first time ever staying at a four-star hotel, and it exceeded every expectation. The hotel is located in East Bali, a more rural and peaceful part of the island—far from the bustle of tourist hotspots like Canggu or Ubud. It’s about an hour and a half drive from the airport, but that distance is part of the charm. We booked our ride through Klook for $44 USD, and after a long travel day, it was totally worth it. We arrived late at night, and the staff welcomed us with cold towels and warm ginger tea—such a thoughtful touch! Our room opened directly onto the pool, and just beyond it, we could see the ocean. The space was spotless and cozy, with a modern bathroom, a big comfortable bed, and a welcome fruit basket filled with tropical treats. Every morning, we woke up to the sound of waves and the sight of local fishermen gathering the catch of the day—which often ended up on the menu at the hotel restaurant, Sea Salt. Speaking of food, Sea Salt serves up East Balinese flavors using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and traditional sea salt harvested from the ocean. Surrounded by lush gardens and peaceful fish ponds, it quickly became our go-to spot. Meals ranged from $10–15 per person—reasonable, especially for the quality. Don’t miss the all-you-can-eat breakfast or the option to order from the poolside menu while you dine in. Nature lovers will feel right at home here. We saw crabs, bats, fish, birds, a monitor lizard, and even an eyelash bug sneaking into our room. Giant spiders? Not my favorite—though Jonathan thought they were cool. Outside the hotel grounds, we saw monkeys, cows, and chickens. It’s like living in nature, but in luxury. One of the best surprises was the free on-site activities. We joined yoga and tai chi classes, learned traditional Balinese dance, made sambal matah, and even wove hats from coconut palm fronds. Daily afternoon tea was another highlight—a lovely way to connect with other guests. For those wanting to explore beyond the resort, Alila Manggis offers excursions like biking down a volcano, visiting rice paddies, snorkeling, and fishing. They also have a complimentary shuttle to Candidasa and the heritage village of Tenganan Pegeringsingan—just ask! On our final day, the staff surprised us with a free traditional megibung meal to say goodbye. It was a beautiful gesture that made the experience even more special. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway in Bali, Alila Manggis Hotel is a place to consider. We hope this video inspires you to seek out beauty, stillness, and adventure in your own way.
