Structural support of the bay roof in retrofit project in Warrington

In this video, we show how we solved a structural issue after replacing a bay window. The original bay windows were larger and structurally supported the roof above. After installing slightly smaller windows, the roof was left without proper support. To address this, we designed and installed a custom steel support structure to safely carry the roof load. Because steel creates a thermal bridge, proper insulation is critical. A thermal bridge allows heat to transfer through the material, which can lead to heat loss, condensation, and potential long-term damage. In the video, we explain how we insulated the steel element to eliminate the thermal bridge and ensure both structural safety and energy efficiency.
