AMMF’s fourth patient and carer webinar was on ‘Liver transplantation in cholangiocarcinoma (CCA)’. This session provided an expert overview of this evolving treatment option, explaining who may now be eligible for liver transplantation, what the process involves, and what patients can expect after transplant. During the webinar, leading specialists also explained proton beam therapy, including why it has been chosen as a key part of transplant preparation for CCA patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). In addition, we learned more about the EMPHATIC study – what is involved for patients in receiving proton beam therapy as part of their work-up prior to transplant. Speakers: Professor Douglas Thorburn, Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust Professor Maria Hawkins, University College London Sally Falk, The Christie NHS Foundation Trust Date: Wednesday, 11 February 2026
