Raw, silent POV footage from my Phuket trip: Driving up to the famous Big Buddha... only to find the site closed off due to ongoing renovations and safety issues following a major landslide in August 2024. This was filmed about a month ago (late 2025), just before the Big Buddha reportedly reopened in early January 2026 – so you see the real blocked gates, fences, and distant views of the massive white marble statue. No access to the panoramic viewpoints or the statue up close this time... but the drive itself shows the steep, winding road and the disappointment many visitors face. Then, heading down to one of Phuket's elephant attractions that offer rides – we stayed outside, didn't participate, and just observed the setup: chained elephants, concrete areas, and the typical conditions that spark major ethical concerns. Elephant riding is widely seen as harmful – please support no-contact, ethical sanctuaries instead! This no-talking vlog captures the unfiltered side of Phuket tourism: iconic spots sometimes inaccessible, and the harsh reality behind popular animal activities. Quick 2026 update: Big Buddha is now open again (check latest news for any changes). Always verify before visiting! What are your thoughts on elephant tourism in Thailand?
