The Cats of Universitas Gadjah Mada's Faculty of Biology

Universitas Gadjah Mada's Faculty of Biology is home to a wide variety of creatures, chief among them being the cats who inhabit its buildings and woodland area. Though once abandoned, these cats now bring colour and life to the campus, forming a bond with students and providing them companionship and stress relief throughout their studies. We spoke to Rury, a lecturer who also cares for the cats, about the indelible mark they have left on the faculty, as well as two students, Ani and Andra, who discuss the impact cats have on students' mental health and why safeguarding them should be a priority.
