A discussion about how our view of the world is filtered through the words that we have to describe it. Our ability to name what we're seeing or experiencing accurately and minutely impacts how we experience those things and remember them later. Adding more, varied words to our vocabulary, then, can change our very perception of the world around us. I also talk about and define my favorite Icelandic word, Lifspeki. Also: I'm told that it's spelled 'dor' not 'dûr' — sorry for the mix-up, but thanks for the kind Romanians who pointed this out to me :) Also also: Annnnnd, it looks like the more commonly accepted spelling (or only correct spelling, depending on who you listen to) is 'lífsspeki,' which is pronounced without the 'sh' sound I'm using in the video (more like 'leafs-speeki'). Thanks for the info, folks! I must have written it down wrong at some point and was never corrected along the way.
