Solo Overnight Hike | The Wild Boggy Rainbow Loop | Carter Dome | Appalachian Trail

Spent another great weekend on an amazing overnight hike out in the White Mountains. It was kind of a loop, but I threw in some non-loop things for the sake of redlining purposes. Im calling it the Wild Boggy Rainbow loop. Started out at the Bog Brook Trailhead, went up the lesser traveled Wildcat River Trail to Carter Notch Hut, then up the Appalachian Trail to Carter Dome. Came down the Dome via the Rainbow trail, then hopped on the Wild River Trail to camp out at the Perkins Notch Tent Site. The next day morning I tagged a roughly .6 mile section of the Wild River Trail I hadn't been on, before backtracking to the Perkins tent site. I made a stop at the No Ketchum Pond, which of note appears to be pretty much impossible to get to without getting muddy or wet. Then backtracked back toward the Rainbow trail and continued down the Wild River Trail. Hiking another 1.1 mile section of the trail where it then intersects with the Wildcat River Trail. Backtracked that. Then eventually ran back into the Bog Brook Trail and worked my way back to the car. Overall trip info according to the Guthook app - 15.5 miles, 3705ft ascent, 3727ft descent You could easily also add Mt Hight to this trip after Carter Dome and add very minimal mileage. It's got an incredible view; arguably the best view in that range. It is also on the NH4k list. An overall very enjoyable trip. Bugs were pretty rough on day 1 (its June, and expected). Temps were also pretty high as well as humidity. I also ran into some Forest Service employees who were switching out a rotten wooden trail sign post for a new one.
