Learning from Orthodoxy: The Cult of Saints in the Ethiopian Orthodox Täwaḥǝdo Church

This is a lecture presented by Rev. Calum Samuelson, who is an ordained Free Methodist minister who has lived and taught theology in Kenya. With an MPhil in Medieval History from Cambridge, he's a PhD candidate at OCMS, specialising in Ethiopian monasticism. He has published globally, and works on projects to preserve Medieval Ethiopic manuscripts. In this session, Calum will be shedding light on the unique cultural and theological aspects of Ethiopian Orthodox traditions. His aim is to provide an insightful perspective on the "Cult of Saints" within Orthodox Christianity. Ethiopian tradition is rooted in its ancient and non-Western Christian culture and offers a distinctive lens through which we can explore the concept of saints within the Christian faith. Is it possible that this tradition embodies one of the healthiest or even the purest expressions of the Cult of Saints in Christianity today?
