Following a screening of the VPM film, "The Inn at Little Washington: A Delicious New Documentary," a panel discusses it at the 32nd annual Virginia Film Festival in Charlottesville. Moderated by NPR host Roben Farzad, the panel was made up of the film's primary subject, Chef Patrick O'Connell, and the film's director, Mira Chang. As described in the film festival's program guide, "Dubbed 'The Pope of American Cuisine,' Chef Patrick O’Connell is a legend. He’s revered as a pioneer of refined American cooking, and as the eclectic restaurateur who transformed a country inn into an international culinary temple. But, behind the fairy tale – behind the humor and whimsy – lies a story of a self-taught chef who started with nothing, and overcame a decades-long feud with a fiercely conservative and homophobic rural town to create one of the most renowned restaurants in America. From Emmy and Peabody award winning Show of Force, in association with the VPM, Virginia’s home for Public Media and executive producer Spike Mendelsohn, comes a delicious new documentary that intimately explores the ornate world of Chef Patrick O’Connell and his magnificent obsession: the double five star, double five diamond, Michelin rated hotel and restaurant, The Inn at Little Washington. Long considered one of the greatest dining experiences in America with the quirkiest cast of characters imaginable, our film follows both the front and back of house as this 'chef’s chef' and his team celebrate their 40th year in business while chasing, and triumphantly attaining, the ultimate accolade… a third Michelin star." Recorded at the Paramount Theater in downtown Charlottesville, Virginia, on Sunday, October 27, 2019.
