In Winnipeg, all newcomers attend ENTRY program on arrival. This program is designed to support newcomers in learning vital information about living and settling successfully in Manitoba. ENTRY program provides newcomers with up to date information about: •Getting Around (including services for immigrants, busing, banking, shopping and education and language programs ) •Employment (including finding and keeping work in Canada, employment regulations, job training and workplace culture) •Health (including access to health care services, emergency services, health plans and staying healthy) •Laws (including family, driving, alcohol, safety tips, police and legal services) Entry is the first step for learners planning to attend language programs. ENTRY classes are available mornings and evenings to meet the needs to newcomers schedules with families and work. Following the completion of ENTRY, an appointment will be arranged for a language assessment at Winnipeg English language Assessment and Referral Centre (WELARC) and a referral to an appropriate language training program.
