Though the Bear has enough fuzz to roar in your face, there's a lot to be found in the lower gain spectrum as well. Adjusting the volume knob of your guitar in conjunction with the fuzz and range controls yields everything from a thick fuzz-overdrive tone to near treble booster sounds. The lower-gain overdrive tones are substantial enough to use as a killer "foundation" sound while the faux-treble booster can lend a unique flavor to leads and solos alike. Of course, the bear cleans up nice, but behind closed doors, it's a flesh-tearing savage animal that will mangle your guitar signal in ways never thought possible. The Sag knob is the key to discovering new sounds, as it controls voltage to the transistors and is highly interactive with the rest of the circuit. Experimenting with different knob placements can yield all types of tones from clean and sparkly to a primal scream of oscillation.
