40th Statehood Day celebrated with great enthusiasm at Pasighat The 40th Statehood Day of Arunachal Pradesh was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Pasighat Outdoor Stadium in the presence of public representatives, senior officials and a large number of citizens. Deputy Commissioner of East Siang, Sonalika Jiwani, ceremonially unfurled the National Flag and took the salute of an impressive march past by contingents of security forces and school students. In her address, she highlighted the state’s progress since attaining statehood in 1987 and called for unity and collective responsibility in achieving sustainable and inclusive development. Referring to the district’s flagship Project Arohit, she stated that the initiative is focused on empowering and rehabilitating youth by equipping them with advanced skills in emerging sectors, enabling them to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to nation-building. The programme was attended by MLA Tapi Darang, Padma Shri awardee Yanung Jamoh Lego, Chief Councillor Tagom Padung, APCC president Bosiram Siram, ZPC Ruth Tabing Boko, and other dignitaries. Commendation certificates were presented to doctors, police and municipal personnel for their dedicated services. On the occasion, the dignitaries also released the book Folk Ballads of Siang authored by Obat Boko Jamoh, underscoring the importance of preserving indigenous oral traditions. Cultural performances depicting the rich heritage of the state added colour to the celebration. The Galo Traditional Dance Troupe secured first position in the cultural competition, while DIET Pasighat stood second. In the exhibition category, ASRLM was adjudged the best stall for promoting grassroots entrepreneurship, followed by H. Spring NGO. Various departments showcased their achievements and welfare schemes through exhibition stalls, reflecting the spirit of “Vocal for Local” and the district’s commitment towards a self-reliant and progressive future. #statehooday #siangtoday #eastsiang #arohit #pasighat_arunachal
