A virtual conversation with Rachel Frazin and Sharon Udasin, authors of Poisoning the Well: How Forever Chemicals Contaminated America, hosted by Food & Water Watch Senior Manager of Philanthropy Events, Jeanine Scheffert Frazin and Udasin’s insightful book tells the story of how PFAS — the toxic ‘forever chemicals’ found in everyday products, from cooking pans to mascara — are leaching into our drinking water and coursing through the veins of 97% of people living in the U.S. Poisoning the Well reports on four highly-contaminated towns and the damning documents found in the polluters’ own files, tracing an ugly history of corporate greed with a devastating human toll. Rachel and Sharon share the inspiration they found in those who, while fighting for their own lives, took it upon themselves to fix a broken regulatory system. Both Sharon and Rachel are recipients of SEAL Environmental Journalism Awards. Sharon has been an environmental reporter for 15 years and was a Ted Scripps Fellow in Environmental Journalism in 2019-2020. Rachel is an environment and energy reporter at The Hill, with previous work in the Chicago Sun-Times, The Daily Beast, the Tampa Bay Times, and The Palm Beach Post.
