The origins and evolution of Chinese Characters

Introduction of origins and evolution of Chinese characters from the view of pictographic in 3500+ years. From only 400+ pictographic characters which could only express object with physical shapes such as Sun (日）, Moon (月)，Fish (鱼)，Goat (羊)，etc. to form 85k compound characters which could express meanings without physical shapes, such as Bright (明), Delicious (鲜), Rest (休), Good (好), etc. It is the first leap of expression power of Chinese characters. Then the compound characters plus pictographic characters could form phrases (词组), which could express any meaning. This is the second leap of expression power of Chinese characters. From then Chinese got rid of the pressure of the need of creating new characters because Chinese has "Building Block Structure", each character is a block which could build combination of blocks = phrases to express new meanings.
