The trio of Nedunuri-Akella-Kamalakara Rao gel so well together. As rightly said by ‪@padren1‬ , every concert from the 1980 tour is a masterclass. Though we have heard these krithis by Nedunuri garu before, they are still full of classism and divinity. His alapana and swaraprastara are splendid to say the least. And the virutham brings so much joy as he loses himself in the music and lyrics and takes us along. Akella garu makes sure the stamp of the Parur school is greatly evident in his playing and not only nails whatever Nedunuri garu brings, but maintains the bhAvam of each krithi. He gave a wonderful service to the world through his AMS Easy Learning Methods. As for Kamalakara Rao, he is always a delight to listen to. He was one of the epitomes of the Thanjavur school and one of the noteworthy disciples of PMI. Every stroke of his was full of gurubhakti. He adapted himself well to the changing times without sacrificing an iota of quality. He was blessed to be a fantastic teacher who passed on the Thanjavur school/PMI bani to the younger generation. Chief among his disciples is Professor Kotapalli Ramesh who I had the fortune of seeing live with Dr. Pantula RamA and MSN Murthy during their 2018 tour.
