Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has invited Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohammed and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to Ankara. Turkey is hoping to mediate the talks between the two East African Nations over tensions that are brewing in the Horn of Africa. This comes after Ethiopia signed an agreement with Somaliland to give it international recognition in exchange for access to the sea. Ethiopia is a land-locked nation and depends on ports for its major exports. However, Somalia considers Somaliland an integral part of its territory.
