How to Craft and Use Plastic Explosives and IEDs on DayZ

DayZ Improvised Explosives Guide: In this lesson, we’ll be learning where to source the necessary components for IEDs, how to craft them and how to utilize them effectively. Improvised Explosive Devices, or IEDs, are a craftable bomb which can be used in a variety of applications, such as base raiding, roadside ambushes, boobytraps and many more nefarious endeavors. Two variations of IEDs can be crafted within DayZ, and those are the Plastic Explosive Charge and the Improvised Explosive Kit. To craft the Plastic Explosive Charge you will need to combine one plastic explosive and a REMOTE DETONATION UNIT. To craft the Improvised Explosive Kit you will need to combine a Protective Case and an Electrical Repair Kit. Once you’ve crafted the kit, attached to the two ordinance slots inside can be any of the four available variants of grenades, landmines or plastic explosives. To arm the kit you will need either an alarm clock, a remote detonator unit or a kitchen timer. Each of the nonexplosive components can be found inside industrial buildings and storage sheds ubiquitously amongst the worlds of DayZ. Remote Detonation Units and Plastic Explosives are both unique rare items which can be scavenged within industrial zones. Areas such as quarries, construction sites, lumber yards and maintenance depots are all examples of industrial sites. Be sure to check scaffolding, storage buildings, accessible rooftops and palletized materials for these elusive items. PLASTIC EXPLOSIVE CHARGES: The steps to utilize the Plastic Explosive Charge are as follows: ⚪Take the PLASTIC EXPLOSIVE to your hands to activate the prompt to “Choose Placement”. ⚪Once you’re satisfied with the hologram’s positioning, respond to the prompt to “DEPLOY” the ordinance. ⚪Next, take the REMOTE DETONATION UNIT to your hand and look at the placed explosive to receive the prompt to “ARM EXPLOSIVE”. ⚪Once armed, the remote detonator’s red signal indicator light will illuminate. This light will remain illuminated whilst the detonator is within the 50 meter range of the receiver. ⚪Take cover a safe distance away from the charge and trigger the prompt to “Detonate”. IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE KIT: To utilize the Improvised Explosive Kit: ⚪ Begin by taking the PROTECTIVE CASE to your hands and dragging the ELECTRICAL REPAIR KIT to combine them and activate the prompt to “Craft Improvised Explosive”. ⚪Once crafted, take the kit to your hands and attach the applicable explosives to one or both of the available slots within. With the kit in-hand, select “Choose Placement” and “Deploy” where desired. ⚪Once deployed, take the REMOTE DETONATION UNIT to your hands, face the kit and select the option to “Arm Explosive”. Take cover at a safe distance and, with the detonator in-hand, trigger the prompt to “Detonate” the IED. KITCHEN TIMER: To arm the IED with the KITCHEN TIMER, take the timer to your hands and select the option to “Set Timer”. The timer is set when you hear it ticking. Each of these elongated lines denotes 1 minute of time. Be sure to give yourself enough leeway to arm the kit and take cover. Once the timer is set, face the IED kit and select the prompt to “Arm Explosive” and take cover. Once the allotted amount of time has elapsed, the timer will ring and detonate the charge. ALARM CLOCK: To arm the IED with the ALARM CLOCK: ⚪ Take it to your hands and select the “Turn On” option. ⚪ Respond to the prompt to “Set Alarm”. I’ll quickly explain how to set analog alarm clocks for anyone born in this century. The seconds hand denotes the desired time for the alarm to sound. 1 o’clock, 2 o’clock, 3 o’clock, etc. These smaller tick marks indicate increments of 12 minutes. Hold down the applicable action button until the silver hand reaches the intended time. For example, we’ll set this alarm for as close to 10:00AM as possible. Once your alarm is set, face the kit and respond to the prompt to “Arm Explosive” and find cover. While you’re waiting, you’ll have time to figure out why the f**k you haven’t subscribed to our channel yet. DISARMING EXPLOSIVES: Lastly, let’s take a look at how to disarm improvised explosives. To safely disarm the devices, you will need one of the following tools: ⚪ Knife ⚪ Screwdriver ⚪ Pliers ⚪ Lockpick ⚪ Detonator Take the tool to your hands and face the explosive to receive the “Disarm” prompt. Repeat this method to disarm Plastic Explosive Charges as well.
