El Choclo (Tango Argentine) - Ángel Gregorio Villoldo

#med (Music.Every.Day) Day 133 of my daily video posting project. I have been working on this project since November 2023--posting a video of piano music every single day! El Choclo (Tango Argentine) is by Ángel Gregorio Villoldo. It is traditionally played on Accordion! I found this arrangement in a collection called the "World's Favourite Piano Pieces" (book 2) In that collection, there are quite a few older favourites of piano music, but also an interesting selection of transcriptions or arrangements or orchestral pieces and pieces from other instruments like this one. Tangos are fun to watch--they are fierce, passionate, tender, and expressive. They are also fun (and a little scary!) to play. Scary because of all the leaps between chords and octave left hand bass notes. The right hand has all the flourishes that make it fun to play.
