This is InFocus, a high-performance TIG process developed by Kjellberg Finsterwalde (https://www.kjellberg.de). What makes this process unique is the power, precision, and the stability of the arc. The system is based on a patented cathode design and optimized cooling. Here the arc is focused on the cathode tip, resulting in an increased stability in the arc and enhanced penetration of the welding depth. The InFocus comes in 2 standard torch versions of 1000 A and 500 A, both of which offer exceptional electrode cooling and fast changeovers. Some of the benefits of this system compared to a typical TIG are the improved aspect ratio of seam depth to width, a narrower HAZ with less distortions, a faster welding speed, faster electrode change with no grinding and adjustment necessary, and finally the saving of Helium (protection gas). The process parameters for the curious minds were: 270 A, 0.4 m/min, 3 mm thick stainless steel (1.4301). To get footage like this without the bright arc, we included advanced built-in active laser illumination in our small #weldingcamera.
