Welcome to miniland.ca, the center for handcrafted miniatures. Today we are taking you behind the scenes for a sneak peek at the skill and detail our craftsmen put into each miniland light. Now we can't show you everything because many of minilands manufacturing techniques are our secrets that we cannot share. Here is one work station in our lighting area. We are soldering the candle holder to the base of the pipe that connects to the lights body. You can see this part circled in red on this finished beautiful crystal chandelier. We solder all the pipes to the center body of the chandelier this way. Our lights are made of metal and are carefully soltered into beautiful designs. Our lights are never painted. The smooth finish you see on the metal of all of our lights is from a chemical process called electroplating. Electroplating is a technique used to cover one metal with another metal....like copper to brass and is what makes our lights so shiny and bright. Electroplating also helps protect the product from corrosion, rusting or general wear and tear It makes metal shiner and gives it an attractive color from the coating. We design many many molds or templates and we use these to bend and shape the different parts of the light…all done by hand…and we use a different template for every light we have. All of our lights are carefully designed and are truly a spectacular piece of work. We make our lights in brass, silver, copper, silvery black and a charming nostalgia which you can find on our website under lighting. Here at miniland we are very proud of our crystal chandelier. Each crystal strand we make is beaded by hand… one bead at a time. It takes about 7 to 8 hours to finish one crystal chandelier. Our lights are simply masterpieces of work…. all thoughtfully handcrafted. You just can’t go wrong with these. They will add such beauty to any of your miniature projects. We hope you enjoyed seeing the inside workings at miniland and can appreciate the care and detail we put into each of our handcrafted miniatures. As always available exclusively here at mainland.ca
