Instructions: Jack up front end of Ford Focus and install jack stands to support vehicle. 1. Remove the 2 bolts from the accessory belt splash shield (at the bottom of engine). Then remove the shield. 2. If your Ford Focus has the factory tensioner that has a bolt on the pulley and no other bolt to relieve tension (as shown in video), you will need to place a socket on the pulley bolt. Then use a breaker bar to rotate the tensioner clockwise. This will relieve tension from the belt and allow you to safely remove belt. I did this procedure from the bottom of engine. Not from the top. If you have an aftermarket tensioner or one with a fixed nut for removal (like the new one I installed), you will need to place socket on that location. Then use a breaker bar to rotate the tensioner clockwise. You do not need to use the pulley bolt for tension relief. (Install bolt at 18 lb-ft) 3. Remove belt. If you would like to also replace the idler pulley: 4. Remove the expansion tank (coolant reservoir) bolt. Position the expansion tank out the way (no need to remove it) 5. Support the engine so that you may remove the engine mount. I used plywood between the engine oil pan and a 2nd jack to support the engine. I jacked up the oil pan slightly. Just enough to remove bolt from Idler pulley. 6. Remove the two big engine mount bolts. The nuts should turn with the long bolts (Install bolts to 59 lb-ft) 7. Remove the 3 small bolts that are attached to the bracket (Install bolts to 35 lb-ft) 8. Remove engine mount. 9. Remove idler pulley from the top of engine (Install bolt to 35 lb-ft) Reinstall new parts. As of Today, 1/18/2020, all parts are working properly. No problems. Thanks for watching.
