Review and Smoking the Peter Stokkebye Amsterdam Shag No. 93 Roll-Your-Own Tobacco, which is generally considered to be one of the overall best RYO’s sold in the United States, and supposedly, it provides a very unique taste as well. Will it live up to the hype? Well, that’s exactly what I found out in this video. But, what is Peter Stokkebye, as a brand? Well, the family has been in the business since the 1880's, however, the PS brand itself has only been around since the 1970's, with imports to the USA starting a couple years later. It was started by Peter S., and has, quite possibly, become the most lucrative endeavor the family has taken into the world of smoking, as it is a very well known, popular, and a much more highly regarded nameplate than not these days that is for sure. PS, as a brand, has changed hands a number of times over the last 40 years, and the current owner, from what I can tell at least, is the Scandinavian Tobacco Group Lane LTD, a massive conglomerate with a focus on cigars, pipes, and roll-your-own products. But, what is the Amsterdam Shag? Well, I don't know when it was first introduced, although probably quite close to the introduction of PS as a brand if I had to guess, but what I do know it is a shag cut Virginia / Burley blend, with the burley in specific being a Flue Cured, Dark Fired, Kentucky, which supposedly gives the blend a very unique taste for a rolling tobacco, which makes sense, as it is also sold as a ribbon cut for pipes.
