Cucumber Beetles - What is the best way to get rid of them?

One garden pest that is very difficult to get rid of is the cucumber beetle. There are two main types and they attack all sorts of plants, including cucumbers, beans, zuchiniz, and peppers and damage the roots and leaves. They are a terrible pest that can kill your plants if you dont deal with them. I have tired a bunch of different methods but have never been able to beat them completely. My newest method is by shooting them with a salt gun. Not only is it satisfying, but it is also effective. It takes a bit of work, but I have already seen a huge decrease in the amount of bugs. What I don't know is if there are going to be any negative impacts by using theis method. Is it going to hurt my plants by shooting salt all over the garden?
