Welcome to the 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show Media Day! We’re kicking off the show seeing Kia’s latest 3-row family hauler that also hauls ass! This is the 2026 #KiaEV9GT, the high performance version of the #EV9. This first-ever #EV9GT gets more power with 501 HP from its dual electric motors, an increase of 122 HP versus the last GT-Line we tested! The GT also gets upgraded brakes with acid green calipers, an adaptive suspension, 21” alloy wheels, simulated sounds and shifting, similar to what we experienced in the Ioniq5N, and aggressively bolster sport seats! #Kia says this combination is good for 0-60 MPH in 4.3 secs, which we think is conservative when we got 4.5 secs in the much less powerful GT-Line in our testing. Range figures aren’t quite available, but we expect this car to use the same 99 kWh battery pack as other EV9’s, which allows 270 miles of range on a full charge in the GT-Line. The new EV9 GT also adopts the NACS plug, allowing this quick charging EV to utilize Tesla Supercharger networks around the country! No word on pricing; but when the GT goes on sale mid-2025, we expect it to be more expensive versus the $78k price tag of the last GT-Line we tested earlier this year. Who would have thought that Kia would be the one to give us a 501 HP 3-row family SUV?!
