We can see there is a serial interface in the board, but we need to identify which pins to use So I will use Volt-Ohm meter to find 3 key pins from left: Tx (1), Rx (2) and Ground (3) Now we change to Volt meter and turn on the router and check again Vcc pin (4) is 3.3 Volts Rx (2) with low Voltage And Tx with about 3 Volts So the 3 key pins are identified Tx, Rx, and Gnd I will solder this 3 male pins to the board to connect it to my computer using USB-TTL module To keep it from moving I use some plastic tape Now I can flip the board to solder To connect router serial console to your computer, you can buy USB to TTL cable from Aliexpress or e-bay You can also mod Nokia DKU-5 cable Connect to 3 pins like this Now I will connect to my router via serial console I need to change my COM3 (my USB-TTL) serial connection parameters 115200, 8N1 Now open my hyper terminal Set all parameters the same as your COM3 Turn on the router Now you are connected to TL-WR6500 console interface.
