Solid Urban Waste or Municipal Solid Waste makes up a high percentage of the household and commercial waste produced. The heterogeneous set of this waste is generically called “dry” and mainly consists of various types of plastic mixed with small percentages of metals. The treatment of solid urban waste includes an initial stage consisting of dividing solely plastic materials from components containing metal. Composite waste follows a primary grinding route, magnetic sorting and density sorting, so as to extract iron, aluminium, copper and brass.
