As our lives move increasingly online, Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV) has become a critical threat that silences women, girls and gender diverse people, preventing them from participating in the digital public square. In December 2025, RNW Media returned to East Africa to tackle this head-on, following the successful workshop undertaken with journalists and content creators in Kenya in September. Partnering with Reach A Hand Uganda, we delivered our TFGBV Reporting Fellowship training to 14 dedicated media practitioners. Led by our colleague and RNTC trainer, Sam Moseti Nyamwange, the workshop introduced participants to RNW Media’s TFGBV Reporting Guidelines, with the goal of supporting journalists and media-makers to integrate rights-based, survivor-centered, gender sensitive, and trauma-informed approaches into their professional practice when reporting on TFGBV. As Humphrey Nabimanya, Founder of Reach a Hand Uganda, put it: "The impact of digital harassment doesn't stop at the screen—it follows the survivor everywhere." By investing in ethical storytelling, we are ensuring that media professionals aren't just reporting the news—they are acting as change enablers for a safer and inclusive digital world. This marks our fourth successful iteration of this workshop, following impactful sessions in Amman, Kenya and Tunisia.
